Anne-Marie Grimler
Anne-Marie Grimler, a member of ARC Kënschtlerkreess, was born on July 26, 1966. She attended evening classes run by the French Ministry of Education and has exhibited her work in various galleries, including Op der Cap, A Spiren, Château de Bettembourg, Fondation Valentiny, and Galerie du Théâtre d'Esch-sur-Alzette. She has also participated in art events such as Fuel Box IV in 2022 and the 1st Salon de la Sculpture in Differdange in 2021.
Anne-Marie Grimler works mainly in white marble from Laas, South Tyrol, Italy, as well as restored antique tools. Her sculptures create a contrast between the hardness of the marble and the rusticity of the antique tools, raising questions about the history of these tools and modern techniques for working stone. She integrates antique tools into her work to create harmony between the raw material and the history of the tool.
To create her sculptures, Anne-Marie Grimler begins by working from a clay model or sketch. In the first time, the compressor creates a rough shape of the sculpture which is carved with an electric grinder. Final polishing is carried out by hand using abrasive paper specifically designed for stone.
