De Mains De Maîtres - Biennale 2018 Catalogue de l'exposition

DE MAINS DE MAÎTRES | 11 Raising awareness for the creative craft industry Since its successful debut in 2016, the exhibition “De Mains De Maîtres” has gained numerous supporters from Luxembourg and beyond that value the commitment of artists and art creators. The exhibition is both boosting the visibility of the Grand Duchy’s high artistic and craftsman like quality and brings together the various professions of creative industries and crafts. Luxembourg counts almost 2,200 companies active in the creative industries, employing more than 6,300 people. In the Grand Duchy, they amount around 6% of the total number of companies and weigh nearly one billion euros in terms of annual turnover. In addition to this direct economic value, creative industries play an important role in boosting innovation through the products and services they provide, and thus contribute to the continuous diversification and growth of the national economy. Launched in 2017, the Luxembourg Creative Industries Cluster serves as a platform with the purpose to provide support for the economic development of the sector. Managed by Luxinnovation, the Cluster brings together various players in order to increase their visibility, to interconnect them and to enhance their innovation potential. I thank Their Royal Highnesses for the initiative in organizing this exhibition to highlight the full potential of the cultural and creative industries, this way enhancing the visibility and reputation of small and medium sized companies within the craft sector, in Luxembourg and across our borders.
