Dans son travail elle explore aussi le détournement des matériaux et des objets du quotidien et tente à mettre en valeur des qualités associées au bijou à. Ainsi, elle cherche à faire émerger une esthétique à la fois réelle et fragile. Diplômée en 1995 de fin d’études secondaires dans le département artistique (Luxembourg), Birgit Thalau apprend ensuite l’orfèvrerie en Allemagne où elle travaille jusqu’en 2001. Ensuite, elle continue son éducation aux Pays-Bas et en Estonie, suit des cours de perfectionnement en Italie et en Finlande pour développer sa démarche personnelle et se spécialiser en bijou d’art contemporain. Depuis 2000, elle présente son travail à niveau national et international et a obtenu plusieurs bourses, supports financiers et prix. Birgit Thalau réside depuis 2009 de nouveau au Luxembourg, où elle continue sa pratique artistique et enseigne en tant que chargée d’éducation en branche « Atelier » à la voie de préparation. Birgit Thalau tries to identify what remains of our gestures. In her work she also explores the diversion of materials and objects from everyday life and tries to highlight the qualities associated with jewellery through a particular treatment. Thus, she seeks to bring out an aesthetic that is both real and fragile. Birgit Thalau graduated in 1995 from secondary school in the art department (Luxembourg), she then learned silversmithing in Germany where she worked until 2001. She continued her education in the Netherlands and Estonia, took advanced training courses in Italy and Finland to develop her personal approach and specialize in contemporary art jewellery. Since 2000, she has presented her work both at the national and international level and has received several scholarships, financial support and awards.
