Transmission and training are particularly in the spotlight this year with the presentation of works by students from four major European schools of applied arts, all of which still have production workshops: LA CAMBRE (Bruxelles), Trier University of Applied Sciences, la HEAR (Strasbourg) et l'ECAL (Lausanne). This is a good way of raising awareness among all audiences, and particularly among young people, of a contemporary and renewed approach to working with material... or rather materials, and of showing that craftsmanship, far from being dead, knows how to reinvent itself and is already preparing to face the new challenges of tomorrow. On the borders of art and craft, in a world undergoing profound transformation, isn't it time to entrust the future of the crafts to the younger generations who will, no doubt, be able to bring together tradition and modernity and integrate, if necessary, the advent of new technologies?
