Andrin Caroline

Born and raised in Switzerland, Caroline Andrin discovered ceramics at the Ecole supérieure d'arts appliqués (HEAD) in Geneva. She then travelled in Europe and North America before settling in Brussels where she has been a professor responsible for the ceramics option at La Cambre Arts Visuels since 2006. Her work is located at the juncture of art and design. It is deeply rooted in a process that rely on knowhow and reflection on the material. Technically, she is interested in the manufacturing process and more particularly in the casting of slip in various moulds (leather gloves, caps, etc.). The process she develops allows her to obtain sometimes complex mouldings and creates a great ambiguity of the material. Her recent work, “Skin Game / La part animale”, deals with the question of metamorphosis and anthropomorphism.
