Greff Miriam
Myriam Rossini-Greff was born in the city of Nice, France, in 1985. She graduated from the famous Art and Design “Condé” School in Paris, where she specialized in Heritage Restoration. She started working for patrimonial institutions and antique dealers, and, as she was very fond of ceramics, she soon developed her skills in Kintsugi, a traditional Japanese restoration art, whose philosophy is to create beauty out of stressing cracks and flaws. In order to do so, Myriam uses only noble materials (gold, specific Urushi lacquer, rice glue, earthy “Sabi” powder…) and ancestral techniques (magnolia charcoal sanding, bamboo Funzutsu sprinkling, agate polishing…). Kintsugi is an art based on patience, meticulousness and precision - in the quantity of materials, of hygrometry, temperature, brush-stroke… It’s also an art of sustainable development, based on recycling and upcycling, that gives a new life and possibly a new use to broken things, using only ecofriendly components. Myriam is so fond of this art that she’s had the idea to divert it from its original aim and to use it for creative purposes. No longer to restore, but yet to create new objects of decoration and design.
