With his objects, Horst Kontakt celebrates the wood itself, its individuality in grain and growth. Here, nature has its say. It is brought to life with perfect craftsmanship and a sure sense of form. The result is mainly classic cylindrical boxes - ideas for containers in which the ideas of the woodturner and artist Horst Kontakt materialise. These objects invite you to play with them, to feel them and to caress them. To follow the attention of the woodturner who recognises, looks at and skilfully stages the character of a wood. The playful contrast between the archaically curved branch fragments that decorate the lids and the immaculate wooden boxes - in which there is often a hidden surprise - is almost graceful. A passionate woodturner, Horst Kontakt is selftaught. His fascination is sustained and encouraged by exchange and discussion with the most renowned masters in their field. He has collected numerous woods from the region which have been stored and dried for over 20 years and are now in use. With the official founding of his workshop in 2009, success also began. His extraordinary works are shown in numerous exhibitions and publications - they inspire a constantly growing community of collectors.
