“ Ses sculptures, très organiques, se caractérisent par leurs formes naturelles et fluides, que d’aucuns ressentent comme sensuelles, et qui rayonnent de la passion de l’artiste. ”
Jean Paul Thiefels
Jean-Paul Thiefels was born in 1952 in Luxembourg. His love for nature, arts and manual skills comes from his father. That is how he learns, from the early age, not only to « look » but also to « see » things. It is therefore not surprising that his affi nities ended in a creative and artistic deployment. Achieving at fi rst practical objects such as coffee tables or other small furniture from wood brought back from forests, his passion turned towards artistic sculpture that he practices now since more than 10 years. His sculptures, very organic, are characterised by natural forms and fl uids that some fi nds sensual and which radiate from the artist passion. Vibrating tensions arise from the forms, from the opposition of polished to natural surfaces, and make want to touch them to apprehend them well. The motto of the artist: “Art is lots of Love”
For this exhibition, Jean-Paul Thiefels synthesizes the theme "Gesture and Territory" in two small sculptural pieces of furniture, in which the gesture of traditional manufacturing is combined with the territory of the native forests from which the wood comes.
