Schmit Christiane (Kopie)
Christiane Schmit was born in 1951 in Luxembourg. She studied art at the E.C.B.A. in Lausanne and at the U.S.H.S. in Strasbourg where she obtained a Master's degree in Plastic Arts. She has been a member of CAL since 1980. Her work has been shown in individual exhibitions at the Galerie Bradké, Simoncini and the Galerie d'Art Municipale d'Esch-sur-Alzette and in group exhibitions in Luxembourg and abroad: in Germany and France, as well as in Moscow and Lausanne. Since 2012, she has at the Jewellery Workshop of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Arlon. Her creations are inspired by nature with its forms, structures and textures. The contrast of colour is explored in a game of assembling different textured or hammered materials in order to endow them with various imprints.
For this exhibition, Christiane Schmit uses the land and its primary materials, wood and metal, in her creations, reflecting her passion for equestrian sports. During her walks, the artist collects stones and pieces of wood with interesting reliefs to study their organic texture and integrate them into her metal creations.
