“In her studio, Tine presents her creations, objects and furniture made from her favorite material, honeycombed cardboard.”
Tine Krumhorn
A graduate of the Ecole Supérieure des Arts Appliqués in Metz, Tine Krumhorn began her career as an assistant set designer in the set design workshops of the Metz theatre. She opened her own design studio in Metz and became a member of the Ateliers d'Art de France. Since then, she has had numerous international exhibitions and won several awards, including the Vever Art & Tradition prize from the Académie Nationale de Metz. In 2015, she set up her studio in Luxembourg, first at 1535° in Differdange, then in Echternach.
For the last twenty years or so, Tine has been working with cardboard, a material that never ceases to fascinate her, which she describes as CarTex, Carton-Texture. When she started out, working with this material stimulated her imagination to create functional sculptures and unique objects. She likes to transform the material, making it 'unrecognisable' by wearing down the texture or using patinas that she makes herself. This material is constantly opening up new possibilities for her, as in her latest works where she plays with light and image.
The "Interior Landscapes" paintings reflect the introspection of human beings and their relationship with nature. Landscapes, reinterpreted, blur the boundaries between painting and photography.
