Camille Jacobs vit et travaille à Itzig au Luxembourg.
C’est par un long cheminement d’expérimentations
que Camille a développé sa passion pour cette matière
complexe et parfois imprévisible qu’est le verre.
Formée en art du vitrail (Institut des Beaux-Arts de
Saint-Luc à Gand), elle fait évoluer son intérêt pour le
verre plat vers des objets tridimensionnels aux formes
épurées et d’inspiration souvent géométriques. La
nature, l’environnement et ses dangers, la science, la
musique sont paradoxalement sources d’inspiration ;
elle y explore la notion de l’abstraction en relation
avec les enjeux de la couleur et ses théories. Forme,
dimensions et couleurs se retrouvent en harmonie.
Techniquement, les créations de Camille se composent
de multiples couches de verre plat coloriées à chaud
d’émaux. Différents motifs et couleurs sont appliqués
par sérigraphie sur chaque couche de verre. Ensuite,
il y a assemblage par fusion au four des plaques de
verre pour obtenir une masse plane et homogène.
Cette masse compacte de verre est enfin modelée par
thermoformage, la finition étant assurée par polissage.
Camille Jacobs lives and works in Itzig, Luxembourg.
It is following a long path of experimentations that
Camille developed her passion for this complex and
sometimes unpredictable material that is glass.
Trained in the art of stained glass (Saint-Luc Fine Arts
Institute in Ghent), her interest for flat glass evolves
to three-dimensional objects with refined forms and
often geometric inspiration. Nature, environment
and its dangers, science, music become paradoxically
inspiration sources: in them, she explores the notion
of abstraction in relation with the issues of colour and
its theories. Form, dimensions and colours gather in
harmony.
Technically, Camille’s creations are made of multiple
layers of flat glass hot lacquered and enamelled.
Different motives and colours are applied by serigraphy
on each layer of glass. After comes the blending by the
fusion in an oven of the glass layers to obtain a flat and
homogenous mass. This compact glass mass is finally
shaped by thermoforming, the finish being assured by
the polishing.
